An earnest collective reach toward purpose and feeling alive against a disorienting, dishonest world where the powerful refuse to fix what hurts

What Might This Song Do to the Listener?

How Do You Wanna Feel? sets a small program running in you: the world has gone fake and disorienting, the people in charge will not fix what hurts, and the honest move is to want to feel alive again and to give your effort toward stopping the harm. You start measuring the day by whether you can still reach the light.

That orientation grows. You carry a low refusal to accept the fake version of things as final, and a pull toward purpose that asks something of you rather than soothing you. The wanting stays a little unfinished, an open question you keep living inside, and you let it keep you facing forward.

What Might This Song Do to a Society?

At scale, How Do You Wanna Feel? installs a shared posture in a population: the common world has turned unreal and dishonest, the powerful will not solve the problems people carry, and the worthy response is to keep reaching toward feeling alive and toward purpose together. A culture running this program treats the longing to feel right as a public task rather than a private mood.

The symptoms grow outward. People hold a quiet refusal to accept the fake version of things, and they keep asking each other what a better, brighter common life could bring. The wanting stays open and unresolved across the group, a question a culture keeps living inside while it stays turned toward the light.

Audience Vibe

The compass reads the lyrics. The Audience Vibe reads the people — the general place the audience thinks the compass should be pointing for this song, not a raw tally of votes. Two needles, one song; the gap between them is the data.

Do you think it should stay where it is, or be pushed further in one direction?

One vote per person per song per year. No single vote can move the needle far — it takes a crowd.

How the Audience Vibe is calculated

The needle is the compass score nudged by the crowd — never a raw tally. Every "push higher," "push lower," and "agree" vote is recombined into one position each time someone votes:

  • Direction comes from the split. Only the gap between higher and lower votes moves the needle. "Agree" votes pull it back toward the compass score.
  • It takes a crowd. Early votes move it gently — a handful shifts it only a point or two. The more lopsided the crowd, the further it goes.
  • It's capped. The audience can pull a song at most 15 points off the compass score, either direction. No pile-on can push it past that.

So a single "push lower" on a song with few votes moves the needle a little (often a point or two), not all the way down — and it can never run away.
