What Might This Song Do to the Listener?

Bounce meets you on a cold, low day and hands you a simple move: get out of your head, shake your body, stay in the moment, and shed the noise weighing on you. You take the invitation to keep a good vibe and treat fearlessness as something you can just decide on.

You feel the lift while it plays and you ride the steady, upbeat pep of it. The encouragement stays general and keeps repeating the same reset rather than taking you somewhere new. Your mood rises with the bounce, then holds at that pleasant, level place and stays there.

What Might This Song Do to a Society?

Bounce gives a population a quick, friendly reset for hard days: move the body, stay present, keep a good vibe, and shake off whatever drags them down. A culture passes it around as permission to choose fearlessness and to treat low moods as something to bounce out of together.

A population running this learns to lift itself in the moment and to wave off heaviness rather than sit with it. They reach for the reset and the good vibe instead of unpacking what is underneath, content with general encouragement. The effect neither corrodes nor deepens; it keeps people buoyant and present and leaves them holding steady there.

Audience Vibe

The compass reads the lyrics. The Audience Vibe reads the people — the general place the audience thinks the compass should be pointing for this song, not a raw tally of votes. Two needles, one song; the gap between them is the data.

Do you think it should stay where it is, or be pushed further in one direction?

One vote per person per song per year. No single vote can move the needle far — it takes a crowd.

How the Audience Vibe is calculated

The needle is the compass score nudged by the crowd — never a raw tally. Every "push higher," "push lower," and "agree" vote is recombined into one position each time someone votes:

  • Direction comes from the split. Only the gap between higher and lower votes moves the needle. "Agree" votes pull it back toward the compass score.
  • It takes a crowd. Early votes move it gently — a handful shifts it only a point or two. The more lopsided the crowd, the further it goes.
  • It's capped. The audience can pull a song at most 15 points off the compass score, either direction. No pile-on can push it past that.

So a single "push lower" on a song with few votes moves the needle a little (often a point or two), not all the way down — and it can never run away.
